LaWanda with her incredible neverending smile. So pleasant to be around and always, always with a kind word. She always had something nice to say and could get you giggling with her quick wit and her very dry sense of humor. We would look at each other across the room and both of us would burst out laughing as we shook our heads thinking about the last joke she told from the day before. Gonna miss that girl....

I liked her very much. We became very close at the 25th reunion. We shared more than one secret. It was a shock when I read her name on the memorial list. I was looking forward to seeing her at the next reunion. There will be a hole there without her.

GREENVILLE - Funeral services for Lawanda N. Wilder, 60, of Greenville, circulation supervisor at the William Alexander Percy Memorial Library, Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville. She died Nov. 14, 2006, at her home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Greenville.

She was a resident of Greenville for the past 58 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Wilder of Greenville; a son, Brewer (Katie) Vaught III of Greenville; her mother, Hilda Jane Sullivan of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Mecklyn Claire and Amelia Vaught, both of Greenville.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
