I played Babe Ruth Baseball with and against Jimmy in the late 1950's early 1960's. He was a great pitcher and competitor. As I remember, it was better if he were on your team. I was at Mississippi State in Fall of 1964 when we heard of his injury and death in GHS football game. R. I. P.
I rarely went to football games after graduation in 1964. My cousin wanted to attend a game in the fall of 1964 so I went with my cousin. I stood in shock as I witnessed the event of that night. I knew Jimmy and his family and remember his good nature at school. The years have not erased or lessened the tragedy of that night.
Jimmy's death had such an impact on both Jim and I that we never let our two boys play football and they never let there children. Will never forget that night or Jimmy!
