Obituary for Rebecca Myers Carnes

Rebecca Myers Carnes, 69, of El Cajon, California, died December 4, 2016 at Angels Guest Home in Santee, California under the care of Sonata Hospice. 
Rebecca was born on September 11, 1947 in Arkansas, the daughter of the late Martin Pickett Myers III and Elizabeth Ann Langston Myers. Rebecca grew up in Greenville, Miss. where she attended Greenville High School, before attending Mississippi State University. Rebecca moved to Franklin, Kentucky in 1988 and later moved to Springfield, Tennessee where she retired from HCA Medicare Service Center. After retirement Rebecca moved to El Cajon, California to be closer to her oldest son and her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Sean Rivera and wife Robbyn of El Cajon, California and Chip Carnes and wife Cristy of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Cameron, Molly and Evynn Rivera; a brother, Martin Pickett Myers IV of Greenville, Miss.; four nieces and two nephews; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Dixie Myers Atewll of Glasgow, Kentucky. 
Rebecca was a member at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Springfield, Tennessee. Family and friends were Rebecca’s passion and delight. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and sitting down with a long book and good cup of coffee. 
Rebecca requested a small, intimate memorial service where her closest family and friends could share special memories together. The memorial will be held January 14, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Springfield, Tennessee.  
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the American Heart and Stroke Association and/or the Arthritis Foundation, or your favorite charity or organization.
