MARIETTA, Georgia - John McDonald King of Marietta, Georgia and formerly of Greenville, Mississippi passed away April 12, 2021,at the age of 73. John McDonald King was born October 14, 1947, in Greenville, Mississippi. He was the son of William Bracey and Edna Streepey King. He was the younger brother of Susan King Hodnik Lyon. John was raised in Greenville where most people knew him as "Dee".
After graduating from Greenville High School in 1965 he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree through the college of Business and Industry in 1971 from Mississippi State University. His professional life was primarily in the fields of marketing and advertising, taking him to jobs in Alabama, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California, and Tennessee.
John was the father of three children and four grandchildren. His retirement years were spent living in Marietta, GA where he spent as much time as possible with his family. Most of his free time was spent following his beloved alma mater Mississippi State University.
Survivors include Joy King Allen (daughter), Jason Allen (son-in-law), Carson Allen and Harris Allen (grandchildren)- Marietta, GA Stephanie King Woltz (daughter), Thomas and Samuel Woltz (grandchildren)- Charlotte, NC Jonathan Brooks King (son)- Las Vegas, NV. The family will have a private memorial service in a place that was loved by their father.
