Funeral Services for Kenneth Wayne Jackson, 70, of Greenville, MS will be held at 11 am Wednesday at South Main Church of Christ, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home - Greenville. He died Sunday at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Kenny was born in Hollandale, MS on August 22nd, 1944 to J.T. and Mary Wright Jackson. He attended school in Greenville, MS and Malone, FL and graduated from Greenville High School in 1965.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 and was stationed in Vietnam and the Philippines. Upon returning home, he married Peggy Sue Whittington and began working for the Greenville Police Department. He served for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Upon his retirement, his heart to serve led him to the Washington County Sheriff's Department, where he worked for an additional twelve years.

Mr. Jackson, affectionately known by many as "Gran", volunteered countless hours at Greenville Christian School. He held many titles there, including bus driver, track coach, groundskeeper, and softball coach.

Kenny was a member of South Main Church of Christ.

He will be remembered by his family, friends, and community for his loving nature, willingness to serve others, love for Mississippi State Sports, and the many "adopted" children and grandchildren whom he loved as much as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Jim Jackson, J.T. Jackson Jr., Norman Jackson, and Bobby Jackson, and one sister: Frances Burton.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy, Son Kenneth Wayne Jackson (Laura) Jr., son James Alderwin (Sara) Jackson, and daughter Emily Kate Jackson. 

He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Ryane Nicole Jackson, Brayson James Jackson, Piper Rose Jackson, and Jayden Henry Jackson, as well as a great granddaughter, Emma Laine Springer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 am till the time of service.
