Allen was one of my best friends in high school.  I have thought of him many times over the years.  Such a musical talent with his piano, organ, and french horn playing.  He was a loyal friend and genuine.  I wish I could have talked to him and known more about how his life was after high school.  When one passes on it's not without having impacted another's life.  In his memory ... I am Beryl Cannon Newsome

Robert, you are correct.  That was Allen.  His correct date of death is April 4, 1994.  He was living in Chicago at the time he was killed.

Beryl, I remember you.  I was Allen's annoying little sister.  =0)  Allen moved around a lot after high school.  He went to college in Monroe, LA for two years, then left and moved to Dallas, where he stayed for several years before moving to New Orleans.  He wound up in Chicago (of all places!) and truly loved it there.  He bounced around career-wise, but his love was always his music and the restaurant business.  He was very talented in both areas, but that was true of anything he set his hand to.  He was a creative person and truly gifted.  I'm sure he would be pleased to know that you think of him, often.
